Congress leader Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a swipe at the government over the Rafale fighter jet deal, saying karma is the ledger of one s action and no one can escape it. He said this after a French media report claimed that 1.1 million Euros was paid to a middleman by the aircraft manufacturer, a charge that was denied by the BJP as baseless.
Gandhi has been alleging that commissions have been paid in the Rafale deal, which the government has denied.
The Congress said Gandhi s oft-repeated allegations of corruption in the deal were proved correct after the French media report.
NEW DELHI: A fresh war of words broke out between Congress and BJP with the opposition party demanding a probe into allegations of payments of 1 million euros to an Indian middleman by Rafale maker Dassault and the ruling party rejecting any irregularities and pointing out that the person named was in jail for UPA-era arms deals.
Reacting to reports on a Paris-based website Mediapart, Congress said PM Narendra Modi should speak on the issue as the deal appeared vitiated by the use of middlemen. BJP said neither the Supreme Court nor the CAG had found anything amiss in the Rafale contract.

Ghost guns such as this one are untraceable. Gun reform legislation might not be possible at this moment, but the Biden administration can issue an executive order banning such ghost guns. Will Waldron /Albany Times Union
In California, a 9-year-old child was one of four people shot dead at a real estate office Wednesday. Shortly before that, 10 people were massacred in a Colorado grocery store, and eight people were executed in Atlanta-area spas.
More Americans have died from guns just since 1975, including suicides, murders and accidents (more than 1.5 million), than in all the wars in U.S. history, dating back to the Revolutionary War (about 1.4 million).
